What is sent when sharing is on
When you log a purchase and the Share my deals toggle is on (it is on by default), Bobby Ho sends these fields anonymously to a community dataset — nothing else:
- Item category ID and the label you entered (e.g. “Silk scarf”)
- Market and city of the deal
- Currency (VND or IDR)
- Asking price and price paid
- Whether you bought the item or walked away
- App version
- A randomly generated anonymous device identifier — a code created on your device that is never linked to you personally
- Timestamp of when the deal was logged
Walk-away logs are stored locally but are not sent.
Feedback form
If you choose to submit feedback, Bobby Ho sends your star rating, your message, and your device information to a private form. You may optionally provide your email address if you would like a follow-up response. Your email is never shared, never used for marketing, and stored only for the purpose of responding to your feedback.
Bobby Haggle Coach (AI chat)
If you use Bobby Haggle Coach, your chat messages are sent to Anthropic, the company that builds the Claude AI model, to generate Bobby’s responses — along with your selected city, the relevant local price reference data, and your home currency. This happens in real time for the sole purpose of answering your question. No account or sign-in is required.
Bobby Ho does not store your chat history. Conversations exist only in your browser’s memory while the app is open and are cleared when you close or refresh the app.
Anthropic’s commercial API terms govern data sent to Bobby. Under those terms, your messages are not used to train Anthropic’s AI models and are automatically deleted from Anthropic’s systems within a short retention window (currently 7 days), except where retention is required to detect abuse or comply with the law. Bobby is an AI assistant and can make mistakes — always use your own judgement and confirm prices before relying on them. Please don’t enter personal information, passwords, or payment or banking details into the chat.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, phone number, or any contact details other than an email address you voluntarily provide via the feedback form. We have no ability to access your contacts, messages, or photos; your payment card or banking details; or any information that could otherwise identify you personally. This applies to the structured data described above. If you choose to type personal or financial details into Bobby Haggle Coach, that text is sent to our AI provider as described in the Bobby Haggle Coach section — please avoid sharing personal or financial information in chat. If you grant location permission, your GPS coordinates are processed momentarily on your device to suggest the nearest city — they are never stored, logged, or transmitted.
Location (optional)
If you grant permission, Bobby Ho reads your GPS coordinates once to identify the nearest supported city. The coordinates themselves are discarded immediately — only the city name is retained locally on your device. Location permission is optional; you can pick your city manually at any time.
Why
Shared data is aggregated and used anonymously to compute and improve the fair-price guidance shown to other travellers. It is not sold and not used for advertising.
Your local wins history
Your full wins history is stored privately on your device (browser local storage). It is not sent in bulk — only the fields above are submitted, one record at a time, when sharing is on.
Your choices
Sharing is on by default (opt-out model). Switch it off at any time: Settings → Community → Share my deals. Once off, no further data is sent. Past submissions are not automatically deleted.
Clear your local wins: Settings → Community → Clear my wins.
Request deletion of reports already sent under your device ID: Settings → Community → Remove my shared data. We will process this promptly.
Cookies
Bobby Ho uses a single cookie to remember your privacy consent preference. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.
Analytics
Bobby Ho uses Google Analytics for usage insights (page views, session counts). Analytics collects limited technical data including an anonymised IP address. This is separate from price sharing and is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
Third-party services
When sharing is on, price reports are sent to a backend built on Google (Google Apps Script / Google Sheets). Feedback form submissions are sent via Make.com to a private Google Sheet. Google’s and Make.com’s own data handling terms apply to data received by those services. When you use Bobby Haggle Coach, your chat messages are processed by Anthropic under their commercial API terms — see the Bobby Haggle Coach section above for details.
Your rights (Australia)
Bobby Ho is operated by Bobby Ho (ABN 68 737 566 453) and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You may request access to or correction of any personal information we hold about you by contacting privacy@bobbyho.com.au. If you have a complaint about how we’ve handled your information and are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Policy changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of Bobby Ho after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
